Hello, this is my third post about network that is my first topic in this second semester in subject Science Computer. So, let's talk about what is network.
Network is a collection of computers and devices connected together via communication devices and transmission media.
Communication devices is any type of hardware capable of transmitting data, instructions and information between ascending device and a receiving device.
Besides that, there are 8 type of communication devices:
- Dial-up Modem
- Digital modem
- Wireless modem
- Network card
- Wireless access point
- Router
- Switch
- Hub

Transmission media is materials or substances capable of carrying one or more communications signals.
Types of transmission media:
- Physical transmission- Twisted-pair cable, Coaxial cable, Fiber-optic cable.
- Wireless transmission- Infrared, Broadcast radio, Cellular radio, Microwave, communications satelite

Network architecture is the design of computers, devices and media in a network.
Categories of network architecture:
- Peer-to-peer network
- Client/server network

Network topology refers to the layout of the computers and devices in a communication network.
Types of network topology:
- Bus network topology

Classification of network
- Local area network (LAN)- is a network that connects computers and devices in a limited geographical area.
- Metropolitan area network (MAN)- is a high-speed network that connects local area networks in a metropolitan area.
- Wide area network (WAN)- is a network that covers a large geographical area using a variety of wired and wireless transmission media.
